Highly Interesting and Informative By John Chancellor TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE on November 7, 2013

If you are a devoted fan of SEC football, this book will be a wonderful addition to your collection of memorabilia. I think the title does not tell the full story of all that is in this book. Chris Warner, the author, has done a marvelous job of collecting lots of interesting facts about the history and traditions of tailgating. And he has provided some interesting recipes associated with each team in the SEC. If that were all there was to the book, it would be very good book. But Mr. Warner has done much more than talk about the history of tailgating.

This book gives you a brief history of football, including the formation of the NCAA, and the introduction of the forward pass. There are some very interesting historical facts focused around the development of football in the South. Mr. Warner also traces the history of the SEC, starting with the old Southern Conference. I found this section both enlightening in that I discovered facts about the game I had not previously known. It also refreshed some long forgotten memories such as when Tulane (my alma mater) and Georgia Tech were members of the SEC. This history of football and the SEC brings a better perspective to the game that makes up such an important part of life in the South. Then there is the section on each member team in the SEC. I was extremely impressed with the amount of information about each school, the history of their football program including stories about their most notable players, their coaches, the programs records, bowl games and the important statistics about the towns where they are located. There is even a dining, night life and accommodations guide for each university.

The information about each school is extremely detailed, highly interesting and will save you a lot of research if you plan to visit any of the towns. As previously mentioned, I think this goes far beyond just being a Tailgater s Guide . I think this is an authoritative guide to all things about SEC football.

Mr. Warner has an excellent writing style. The book is well organized with tons of information about the SEC and the various teams. For some it will be a walk down memory lane as you recall the highs and lows of your favorite team, coach and players.

Read it for the fun, the memories and keep it handy for the information. With the help of this book, you will be a real expert on the history of football and the SEC. And if you happen to want to put on your own tailgate party, you will have some great recipes to go with the tradition.

I was provided a review copy of this book. --John Chancellor REVIEWERVINE VOICE
