Heads UP: Why Chance Walsh Is Perdido Key’s Only Hope on August 23rd

In early January 2022 Joe Gilchrist and I met with Chance Walsh, business owner of Lillian’s Pizza in Perdido Key, a candidate for the open Escambia County Commission Place 2, as the incumbent is not running.

Chance Walsh is seeking political office for the first time. He is pitted against two other candidates of the same party.

A race of issues involving neglected infrastructure, gerrymandering districts to retain and build power for the ruling coalition and returning a voice from Perdido Key to the Commission, as the island has been treated like a red-headed step-child by the Pensacola Swamp for far too long.

The machine wants their hand-picked guy, Jason Brown, the former aide to the incumbent senator—a guy from Tallahassee, with no area roots other than his ongoing political machinations bent on maintaining the unfavorable status quo.

Less a majority on August 23rd, the top two vote getters will face in a runoff.

Joe Gilchrist passed away before he was able to get involved in this race like he wanted.  However, his intentions were clear:  He despised Brown, the people behind him; and was going to support both of the men facing him—until his political end.

Joe dragged me twice to County Commission meetings.  Being from Louisiana, I have seen more than my share of kangaroo courts, railroad jobs and gerrymandering.  The Escambia County Commission has run amuck.  It needs new blood.

That new blood is Chance Walsh—a neglected citizen and businessman shunned by the establishment, Chance is taking no special interest money.  His opponent is a paid hack with the inside track at your tax dollars.  Look into the race for yourself.

But more importantly, look into Chance Walsh, our absolute best chance moving forward, for Perdido Key.

I was not paid for this blog. I have however twice donated to Chance’s campaign and am actively working on his campaign, as he needs to prevail for the good of the Key and greater Pensacola.
